- inventing new jumps and
- inspiring other skaters to
- be more athletic and
- acrobatic.

- Dick grew up in Englewood, New Jersey,
- where he began figure skating when he was
- 12. He loved to skate but often had trouble
- staying on his feet. At practice, he would fall
- so much that he had to bring dry clothes to
- change into! Dick went on to become a five-
- time world champion and seven-time U.S.
- champion. He also won two Olympic gold
- medals.
